A silo is a structure that stores grain. In country Australia it can also be a massive canvas.
The historic town of Hill End is a short drive from Bathurst. There used to be gold. Now there are tourists. After visiting, check out the fantastic Holtermann photo collection from the 1870s to compare architecture and see how it used to be back in the day.
We didn’t have long in Dubbo, just enough time to check out the brewery and some street art and have a couple of meals. We had a wonderful brunch at Dahab Cafe before we left.
Utes in the paddock is worth a stop. Winner of a 2020 Australian Street Art award. The council is looking for more artists to contribute. BYO ute. They could do with a pop-up coffee van too. Just saying. (Top image is Circle Work – John Murray.)

Silverton is famous as a film location, particularly for Mad Max 2. Even if you’re not a film fan, this is a great place to visit. It’s just a short drive from Broken Hill, with galleries, history, and bleak but beautiful landscapes.
